Other Current Dee News

• Had a great time at the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife festival!

• I have consolidated all of my nature pages. This page includes all of my photo pages (birds, spiders, life list), all of my educational videos, and I just added a new page of all of the articles I have written for the Limpkin over the years.

• The Brevard County Herbarium is online now! This is what I have been working on since last year, verifying and scanning specimens. It is still a work in progress, we need to add key words so you can search on common names and descriptions. But, you can mouse over to see thumbnails, and click to see large versions. Let me know any comments/suggestions

• For those of you with lives (e.g., those who don't follow me on MySpace or Facebook or My Blog, I finally completed the puppet project for the ELC. I fixed the spoonbill, added some armature. He's still not perfect, but at least the bill doesn't droop anymore. On to the Great Crab Project now, just need to order some Sculpey (too small for puppets.)

• I made a page to show the kitties and the evil squirrel. I updated it because today the squirrel showed up with his evil henchman.

• Happy Halloween from me and Barty. The really scary thing about that picture is that I have officially become one of those old ladies who dresses up her cats. The scarier thing is that Barty seems to enjoy it (although, here is a picture of him going Sean Penn on me - I guess he was tiring of having his picture taken)

• I finally finished my summer project. My dad would be proud. Check out my new and improved garage, now with a spectacular 4-stall litter box, no waiting (unless all 5 kitties decide they need to take a wiz at the same time, man I hope that doesn't happen.) added Spetember 14, 2008

I can't put them in first place because they are not just my favorite band, that makes it sound trite; REM is pretty much the sound track to my life.

The Encyclopedia of Dead Rock Stars -- Interesting little tome (actually, it's huge, been reading it for a few weeks now.) It's just interesting to see how people shuffle off this mortal coil.

Poets of the Fall -- They could quite possibly be the best band, ever. If you are not familiar with them, watch their Carnival of Rust video. Then, run, don't walk, to iTunes and download everything they have ever recorded. If you can't afford everything, download the Signs of Life album, and the Carnival of Rust single. Then sell off your possessions and buy the rest. Trust me, you don't own anything greater than music by this band.

• Jon Ellis is a very cool artist. I bought a print of one of his Dream Cells at an art show and have it hanging beside my desk. It makes me very very happy to look at it. I'm not sure if it's on his web site, but it's the one with the elves riding the turtle with the prothonitary warbler.
• A bit disurbing, but I really like this artist's work and his brother's stuff is neat as well. I wish I could paint like this.
